Makeup Must Have Series: Drugstore Edition- Concealers

Now when it comes to drugstore makeup, I have the tendency to look for everything but concealers. The reason why is because a really good drugstore brand concealer is hard to come by. Through out the years, I have notice a lot of the drugstore brands are starting to become more high-end quality. This is very good for those of use who are on a budget.

Concealer is meant to of course conceal, brighten, and cover any unwanted imperfections such as dark under eye circles, acne marks, and scars. This is going to give a guide in what to look for  in good drugstore concealers out there in the market worth trying out.

Mabelline Fit Me Concealer

Now this is a great concealer, really light weight

Mabelline Instant Age Rewind
This highlighter very good one I always buy the brightener illuminateur, has a lot of pink in it which is great for highlighting.

Hard Candy Glamoflouge concealer
Heavy duty, covers imperfections very well sad part its only seems to be sold at Walmart and limited color selection still if you could get your hands on it, try it out.

Loreal True Match Concealer
Great thing about this concealer is that Loreals true matching system makes it easier for you to choose what is right for you.

Nyx Concealer In A Jar
Dupe for Mac's Studio Finish Concealer, good consistency, has correcting colors such as orange which is great for women of color

La Girl Pro HD Concealer

The least expensive and best out of the bunch. It comes in tons of colors expect the fairest. Be a dupe for the Makeup Forever Full Coverage concealer. I Love it!!!!!!!!!!!

Now I've tried a lot more concealers but these to me are pretty good close to high-end. Some I just use to brighten with but try these and see if they will be add to your makeup collection.

Reasons why I love makeup and beauty

Well I got into makeup back in high school. I would always look at the magazines with all these pretty pictures and every time I found a look I'd like, I would try to do redo it but it wouldn't look the same. I wanted to know how that makeup artist did it. I one day want to achieve those magazine looks that I would stare at for hours thinking wow how, what, where, and why. So I would just practice until I got it. Over the years as I got better, I just grew to love what being in the beauty industry stood for. I see myself as and all around artist who just enjoys creating different things. I get so excited when discover something new, whether it be a new brand I found out or a makeup trick.

One way I would discover these brands and how to perfect my techniques was from searching You tube from popular Gurus like
Gossmakeupartist
BeatFaceHoney
QueenOf Blending
Prettylilmzgrace

And I mean I would tone in and try to soak up all that information because to me they are very impressive. And I admire those who could create something I could be inspired by.

I do think that being a makeup artist with in the industry, I feel that there is a type of artist. I would Consider myself a detailed makeup artist because I tend to pay attention to precision and detail like my brows. If you take a look at my brows, they look very precise and any other makeup artist with defined precise brows, that really means they are perfectionists and pay really close attention to detail. That takes practice and experience so not everybody is gonna just learn how to achieve the best brows but it looks good when learned.

It just fascinated me with all the eye shadow looks and all these neat tricks I was learning. This is definitely my passion. I love talking about different products and taking makeup look pictures so I created a beauty Blog to teach and give some cool links to these brands that a lot of us women don't know about.

I will stay working for hours on my posts and its like therapy for me. I relax and put on the style network like Jersylious, House Wives, or any of the Kardashian shows because their makeup always looks so perfect and just develop ideas and looks. Same thing when doing my makeup in the morning. It takes me 45 mins tops but I take my time and take longer because its literally my sanctuary.

I Love it sooo much. This is truly my passion and in the future I will always be doing my blog and creating looks and trends because it is so exciting to me. I love learning and getting inspired by all types of things that are different, I try to apply it somehow in my world or my Blog and Tumblr even. This blog is literally me and I wouldn't of designed it any other way.
I do it for me and anyone willing to Listen and look at the fun pictures I enjoy taking for my posts. I will always try to come up with creative posts because creating is something I love and that is why I don't  always do the same look; )

Brushes 101

 Lets talk about brushes.

Makeup brushes are an essential, an artist's tools to achieving a proper makeup application. Let me tell you, the better the brushes, the easier and better your makeup will look. From cheap but really well formed brushes, to the brushes that are worth every penny, I will go through a list of ones I've tried and love and want to get. I  will also talk about types of brushes and what they are used for.

Types Of Brushes
Animal Hair- Needs to be washed frequently, absorbs more product and better for blending because of the softness
Synthetic Hair- More affordable, Stiff, and don't absorb so much product, less shedding

Types of Face Brushes
Blush Brush- used for blush
Tulip Brush- used to contour
Flat top brush- used for powder
foundation brush- foundation
kabuki brush- blending it all together
Fan Brush- highlight the face and knock off eye shadow fall out

Types of Eye Shadow Brushes
small angled brush- applying brow color to brows and shaping brows
eye shadow brush- packing on eye shadow
blending brush- used for everything, comes big or small
spoolie- combing out brow hairs
small contour brush- contouring nose, eye socket, crease
small and large crease brush- applying color crease in the eye

All these brushes have multiple use so I don't go by type really but some are really good for what I described them for.

Now also what is a great secret to use is craft brushes and nail brushes from eBay because of the stiffness and how small they made, easily fits to the eye and awesome for eyeliner application.

Great Brushes from affordable to expensive
E.L.F. Brushes
Bh Cosmetics Brushes
Eco Tools Brushes
Real Technique Brushes
Crown Brushes
Coastal Scents Brushes
Sedona Lace Brushes
Sigma Brushes
Mac Brushes

Brushes are good tools to have and the better quality, long lasting and easier application.

Artist Tip and My very 1st Giveaway!!

Makeup Artist Tip for Bright eye makeup........

So when wearing bright eye shadow colors, remember to always mute the lips. Your main focus is the eyes that you would want to draw attention to. So a nice nude lip would do the trick. Bright eye makeup is fun and a way to gain your skill. To learn all about eye shadow application, refer to my Eyeshadow 101 post. http://makeupbynakimah.blogspot.com/2013/04/eyeshadow-101.html

Now makeup has no rules really. I'll do bold lips and bold eyes when I want to get a little "Sasha Fierce" referencing beys alter ego ha ha. But to get your point across with your eyes, you don't want to get crazy everywhere else. Same thing with a bold lip, you would go for neutral eyes.

Tips On Colored Lashes

How cool would it be to have purple lashes. The art in makeup artistry is finding different ways of creating things that aren't normally what they are but look so real that possibly purple lashes could exist?! There are colored mascaras out but never really intense colored ones. I have found some different ways to achieve colored lashes. How to get it is simple and easy. Hopefully you could try too.

Heres some fun tricks
Do regular mascara first, top or bottom, take your favorite colored eyeliner and apply two coats on your lashes.
Take any mixing medium or eye sealer and add your choice of any color eye shadow to it, then take a spoolie brush that looks like a mascara wand and apply two coats to your lashes.

Easy and Simple way to jazz up a neutral look.

Its a cool trick! Fun and Easy!!!

Kat Von D lock n Load Setting Spray

So I'm always looking for the best things and  recently I wanted to try Kat Von D lock n load Setting Mist Spray today. It just came in the mail so I'm going to review the product to see it  is worth it and if it does what it claims to do.

                                 Actual Product
                                Priced at $24.00
How much product 3.4 fl. oz
                           Spray cap regular no mist
                                Scent is cucumbery

                                What it claims to do
High tech setting spray that keeps makeup and tattoo cover up in check
Preventing natures force from melting, fading, and smearing

I brought it at sephora.com. All setting sprays claim to keep make up on all night. Right now I'v been using  Ben Nye Makeup Setting Sealer so I'm going to give Kat Von D setting mist spray a try and see if its worth bragging about.
